The 7th Annual African Apologetics Conference

Much of the existing discourse on Christianity in Africa has been framed around the binary of Christianity as a foreign imposition versus Christianity as an authentic African religion. While this debate has generated important scholarship, it has also tended to reduce a complex history to a contest of identities. This conference proposes a different entry point: colonialism. By foregrounding colonialism, its ideologies, its atrocities, its genuine contributions, and its long shadow over African Christianity, we can engage with specific historical events and actors rather than abstract cultural categories. Students can grapple with the documented horrors of King Leopold II’s Congo Free State, the ambiguous role of the London Missionary Society, the prophetic resistance of African Independent Churches, and the transformative power of vernacular Scripture — all within a single coherent frame. Crucially, this conference is designed for Kenyan university students who stand at the intersection of a rich African heritage, a living Christian faith, and a global academic conversation. The goal is not merely academic comprehension but theological formation: the production of thoughtful, courageous Christian leaders for Kenya and the continent.

SPEAKER PROFILES

Vocab Malone

Cab Malone is a graduate of Phoenix Seminary, specializing in counter-cult ministry and street-level apologetics. He hosts the GOD CITY LIVE podcast and has participated in numerous public debates and dialogues, primarily with Hebrew Israelites and Muslims. Originally from the south side of Columbus, he now lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife and two sons. Watch Vocab on YouTube

Lincoln Kamau

Dr. Lincoln Kamau is a disciple of Jesus who enjoys learning and teaching. He holds a PhD in Engineering from Loughborough University in the UK. He has an MSc and BSc in Telecommunications Engineering from JKUAT, where he lectures. He has a keen interest in AI, history, missions and the intersection of faith and science. He is part of the Missions’ Supporters League (MSL) which focuses on spreading the Gospel among unreached people groups. He is a facilitator in the Senders Training and Exposure Program (STEP) which equips participants in supporting cross cultural missions. Lincoln and his late wife Luseno are blessed with 5 children.

Sam Brace

Simon Brace is the Regional Director of Ratio Christi in South Africa where he also serves as RC’s Chapter Director at the North West University. Simon was involved with the original establishment of Ratio Christi and continues his roll as a member of RC’s Board of Directors. He comes to us from his previous post as Director of Evangelism for Southern Evangelical Seminary Simon moved to South Africa at a young age where he completed school and gained a diploma in Land Surveying. He worked as an Engineering Surveyor in construction for a number of years in different countries before moving the United States to pursue studies in Theology. He holds a BA in Theology and MA in Apologetics and Philosophy from Southern Evangelical Seminary where he also served as the Director of the Missions program called TEAM. Simon had the privilege of leading many groups from Southern Evangelical Seminary to teach and train in the local Churches in a number of countries. Simon is married to Nel and they have four children: Eva, Olivia, Cai and Joshua. The Braces currently live in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Simon loves fishing, sport, and in recent years has taken an interest in woodworking; the end result being an infinite regress of projects that have now to be built for Nel. Education

Okuchukwu Akpe

Okuchukwu Akpe holds a Bachekor of Arts in Missiology from ECWA Theological Seminary, Igbaja, Nigeria. He currently pursues a Master’s in Religion at Yale University Divinity School . His research focuses on Christianity in Africa and its intersection with themes of globalization and transnational mobilities.

Obed Lewi Yusuf

Obed Lewi Yusuf is the Youth Development Program (YDP) Coordinator at Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University, Nairobi. YDP is a three months (Jan-April) transitional program designed for ex candidates to help them deepen their relationship with God and equip them with requisite skills for campus life. Obed is currently pursuing a PhD in World Christianity at PAC University. His research interest is how young people have historically contributed to the growth and development of Christianity in Africa. He holds a Masters of Art in Children and Youth Ministry from PAC University and a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry from the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Theological Seminary, Jos. Nigeria. Obed is passionate about logical and critical engagement with the Christian faith and emerging youth issues, particularly youth and sexuality. He is proudly married to Abigael Nyaguthii, a Counseling Psychologist.

Dr. Kevin Muriithi

The Rev. Dr. Kevin Muriithi Ndereba (PhD, University of South Africa) is a Kenyan Practical Theologian, Presbyterian Minister and Theological Educator working as Lecturer and Head of the Department of Practical Theology at St. Paul’s University. Kevin is editor/author of the books Apologetics in Africa (Langham 2024) and Youth Ministry after the Pandemic (Wipf and Stock, 2025). His research/speaking interests are in the fields of youth ministry, apologetics, practical theology, faith and science. He is married to Jessica, and Father to Noah.

Ndegerege

Pastor David Ndegerege is a seasoned minister currently serving as the Youth Director at PCEA St. Andrew’s Parish. He has served with PCEA Thome Parish as the Youth Ministry Director and Online Ministry Coordinator, and with PCEA Nyeri Presbytery as the Pastoral Programs Coordinator and Evangelist. He has worked with FOCUS Kenya as a Campus Ministry Facilitator for the Mt. Kenya Region and participated in the Short Term Experience in Ministry (STEM) program. He is a PhD candidate in Systematic Theology and Philosophy at the University of South Africa. He holds a Masters in Theology (Systematic Theology) and— is slated to complete a Bachelor of Divinity from —St. Paul’s University. David also holds a BSc. (Hons) in Computer Science & Technology alongside a Cisco Certified Network Associates (CCNA IV) certification from Maseno University. He is a well-versed part-time lecturer teaching Trinitarian theology, Christology, and African Christian Theology at the Presbyterian University of East Africa, as well as Biblical foundations, Christian ethics, and computer applications at Outspan Medical College. David is a sought-after Conference Speaker who has participated at the National YSUMMIT, the COMMISSION Conference, and the Apologetics Forum for FOCUS Kenya. He has also made media appearances on Hope TV on Weekly Devotions and Kirk TV in various programmes.
