The 3rd Annual African Apologetics Conference

Apologetics Kenya successfully ran the FIRST Annual conference themed, CHRISTIANITY AN AFRICAN FAITH (Nov 2020), and SECOND Annual Conference: CHRISTIANITY: A PUBLIC FAITH (Nov 2021). The THIRD Annual African Apologetics conference is running from 22-27 November as a HYBRID conference.

2022 THEME: Worldview in a Wandering World (Col 2:6-8)

Our view of the world is shaped by many things. These include childhood experiences, societal views, philosophical ideas and religious experiences, among others. The Judeo-Christian heritage presents significant consequences to all of life. This conference seeks to explore the significance of a Christian worldview to important areas of life including work, arts and literature, popular culture, atheism, cults, science and Afro-centric thought.

SPEAKER PROFILES
Is chair of Apologetics Kenya. He is presently full-time Lecturer at St. Paul’s University in the Theology faculty, and specializes in practical theology, youth ministry and apologetics. He initially worked as an Engineer before pursuing a call to pastoral ministry, completing a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, an M.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies and PhD in Theology. He has a Certificate in Apologetics from Talbot School of Theology, Biola University and previously served in the pastoral team of PCEA Loresho Community Church. He is currently working with Langham on a book on Apologetics in Africa, forthcoming 2023. He is married to Jessica and together are raising their son Noah.
Bill Dindi graduated from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, and later a Masters Degree in Transformational Leadership from the Global Academy for Transformational Leadership. He is finalizing a second Masters Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies. He served as team Leader of the Student Ministry Department at Life Ministry Kenya for some 7 years and was part of the leadership team overseeing Campus Crusade for Christ’s work among University students in Southern and Eastern Africa for 5 years. He is the director of the Practical Ministry Department at the International Leadership University, and also serves as the youth Pastor at the River of God Church in Parklands, Nairobi. Bill is passionate about evangelizing and discipling youth. He is married to Nancy and they are blessed with 3 kids.
Mwangi Chege is a Mechanical Engineer, entrepreneur and Christian apologist who has been involved in Christian ministry and apologetics ministry for over10 years. He is the Vice chair at Apologetics Kenya a ministry interested in the confluence of Christianity and culture in Africa. He holds a Degree from JKUAT and a Certificate in Apologetics from RZIM. He is also a writer and speaker for Timazi Africa. He is married to Lilian and they are blessed with 3 children: Gaitho, Mwaniki and Tugi.
Ben became a Christian in 1997 at 33 years old. He is married to Joey where they live in Oregon, and they have two adult children. In seeking answers to questions about Christianity, Ben discovered apologetics. He was fascinated with the many great answers he found, and in 2012 completed a master’s degree in apologetics from Biola University. In 2017, Ben off ramped from his career in technology innovation to focus on ministry work. He joined the staff of Eternal Impact and was associate pastor for Missio Dei Community. In addition to this work, Ben taught apologetics at Canby Bible College and has been in leadership with the Portland Chapter of Reasons To Believe for over 15 years. At the beginning of 2022, Eternal Impact commissioned Ben to launch Apologetics On Mission, a ministry dedicated to taking apologetics on mission and raising up Christian defenders globally.
Joseph Byamukama is a Ph.D. Candidate in New Testament Studies at Ridley College, Australia, and holds a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA. He is the founder of Veracity Fount, a ministry that seeks to equip the Ugandan Church through theological research and resources.

Dr. Julisa Rowe has been acting and directing for over 30 years, throughout the United States, Kenya and worldwide.  She has a BA in Drama, an MA in Intercultural Communication and a Doctorate in Ethnodramatology (the study of different cultural drama forms) and taught theatre at Daystar University for 11 years. She is an international consultant, trainer, performer and director, serving as the country director for ACT Kenya, and has performed in, and directed, dozens of plays for community, school and church groups.  She toured the United States professionally for 14 years with several original one-woman shows, both musical and dramatic.  In Kenya, she has been seen on TV in Briefcase, Inc. (KTN), Groove Theory (Zuku Africa) and, most recently, as Marjorie Randall in One in a Million for Maisha Magic and currently heads the drama ministries at Mamlaka Hill Chapel. Under ACT Kenya, she is the Executive Director the Creating Understanding International ministry, which incorporates 4 centres:  The Centre for Intercultural Leadership (which oversees the ministry of Dr. and Mrs. Donald K. Smith, founders of Daystar University, and their writings and teaching), the Centre for Performing Arts, the Centre for Media, and the Centre for Worship Renewal and Music.

Additionally, she serves as the Dean of the School of Creative Expression for Missional University, and upcoming online university, and is developing a degree program in Ethnodramatology for them as well as overseeing 5 departments of digital, media, communication and creative arts.

Is the digital lead of Apologetics Kenya, his interest is in apologetics, missions and evangelism. He loves to read and also studies the old testament and the nature of the spiritual realm in the Bible. He is married to one wife. Rev. Rodgers Atwebembeire is East Africa Regional Director of the Africa Centre for Apologetics Research (ACFAR), a ministry equipping believers in Africa for the defense of the faith, biblical discernment, and evangelism. He is also a Moderator of the Reformation Church in East Africa. Rodgers oversees a ministry team engaged in specialized outreaches to pastors and ministry workers, secondary and university students, and women and girls. He primarily studies new and controversial religious groups in East Africa. He speaks at conferences, and lectures, and teaches courses at several seminaries, Bible colleges, and missionary-training organizations.  He gives Television and radio interviews with secular and Christian media outlets. He is a regular author/speaker for The Gospel Coalition Africa and serves on several boards of like-minded parachurch organizations. He is married to Prossie Musiimenta and they are raising 5 children.
Lorna Abwonji is a fashion designer with the fashion brand Mia Mara Creations. She is very passionate about young people and has served in youth ministry at Nairobi Chapel for over 10 years and is currently serving in the Apologetics Kenya digital media department. Since 2014, Lorna has been serving as an online missionary in Global Media Outreach an online evangelism and discipleship network that have thousands of volunteers from around the world. She is currently one of the community leaders in the East African region. Lorna has also had an opportunity to be part of a Nairobi Chapel Mission trip to Germany in 2018 and was hosted by Andreasgemeinde Church in Frankfurt. Lorna is always looking to learn more about God and grow deeper in His word by attending various workshops and conferences and recently graduated with a certificate in Navigating Old and New testament from Nairobi Chapel in 2016 as well as certificate in Christian Apologetics class of 2022 offered by Apologetics Kenya. All in all, Lorna is very passionate about seeing more people get involved in Apologetics so they can have a deeper understanding about their Christian journey and in the process grow deeper in their faith.
Simon is the National Director of Ratio Christi South Africa and also serves as the Chapter Director at the North West University in Potchefstroom. Born in Zimbabwe, Simon moved to South Africa where he completed his matric and gained a diploma in Land Surveying from Durban University of Technology. Simon also holds a BA in Theology and MA in Apologetics and Philosophy from Southern Evangelical Seminary. Simon was also involved with the founding and establishment of Ratio Christi while working at Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES) and has served as the President and Chairman of the Board of Ratio Christi. He is currently a Ratio Christi Board member.

Paul A. Nelson is currently a Senior Fellow of the Discovery Institute and Adjunct Professor in the Master of Arts Program in Science & Religion at Biola University. He is a philosopher of biology who has been involved in the intelligent design debate internationally for three decades. After Paul received his B.A. in philosophy with a minor in evolutionary biology from the University of Pittsburgh, he entered the University of Chicago, where he received his Ph.D. (1998) in the philosophy of biology and evolutionary theory. His research interests include the relationship between developmental biology and our knowledge of the history of life, the theory of intelligent design, and the interaction of science and theology. Paul lectures frequently at colleges and universities throughout the United States and Europe, has spoken on American and Italian national public radio, and written for popular publications.

Dr. Mukolwe also serves as the Director for Family Life Ministry for the Navigators in Africa. He is a consultant to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development parental engagement and empowering program and serves on the board of Daystar University. After graduation with a Veterinary degree in 1984, Stanley received his Masters and Doctorate from Oklahoma State University in 1991. Stanley and Patience got married in 1985 and have raised three children. They are also grandparents to two. The Mukolwes received mentorship for over 10 years from the Navigators in Kenya and in the USA in the areas of one-on-one discipleship, interpersonal relationships, parenting and marriage. They believe that the true bottom-line of life is measured in healthy and functional relationships. Stanley and Patience have spoken to thousands around the continent on these subjects in various settings. Stanley’s book “Raising Future Parents” has sold more than 15,000 copies.

Vince Bantu is the Ohene (President) of the Meachum School of Haymanot and is Assistant Professor of Church History and Black Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. Vince’s assignment from the Lord is to proclaim that the Bisrat (Gospel) of Yeshua is for all nations, tribes and tongues and to do this by teaching on the earliest history of Christianity in Africa and Asia. Vince is the author of A Multitude of All Peoples (IVP), Gospel Haymanot (UMI) and The Bisrat (Jude 3 Project). Vince is also the Ohene (President) of the Society of Gospel Haymanot (SGH, an academic socity of theological Gospelism – Afro-rooted theology commited to the universal Lordship of Jesus, biblical authority and the liberation of the oppressed. Vince also serves as the Katabi (editor) of the publication of SGH – the Haymanot Journal. Vince, his wife Diana, and their daughters live and minister in St. Louis and they love to travel, watch moveies and burst some spades.

Dwight S.M. Mutonono (DMin Bakke Graduate University USA, PhD Candidate Asbury Theological Seminary) is currently at Asbury Theological Seminary in the USA. He previously worked at Africa Leadership and Management Academy in Zimbabwe as the Executive Director and is part of the International Council for Faith Ministries churches which originated in Zimbabwe. He has written two published books and contributed to others. He has also written several articles for academia, newspapers and other publications.
