THEME
IS CHRISTIANITY THE FAITH FOR AFRICA?
This year’s theme asks the question, Is Christianity The Faith for Africa? The reality in many African countries is the resurgence of African traditional practices that are syncretistic. In many African cities, younger generations are asking whether Christianity is a white man’s religion. These younger Africans are wondering how Christianity speaks into questions of African identity, spirituality, and Biblical criticisms. Globally, during the COVID pandemic, Christianity in the west has brought to the foreground how the Christian faith interacts with public issues such as race, tribalism, development and corruption. This conference will seek to explore this theme under the following sub-themes: History | Bible | Spirituality | Justice.
